Smart Image Resizer

Last week i had the pleasure of implementing this great bit of stand-alone PHP into a clients website:

http://shiftingpixel.com/2008/03/03/smart-image-resizer/

It’s a neat little script and very easy to use. Basically what it does is to resize and crop any image you throw at it on the fly. What this means in real terms is that you only ever have to create one thumbnail image and you can use the same image in different places on your site in a variety of different shapes and sizes!

I would show you some examples but it requires PHP 5.1 and my webserver is only running PHP 4.4.7

(thanks to Mr. Dalton for putting me onto this script)

Back in Black

It seems I am to be amongst the victims of corporate restructuring at NCsoft with my role as Senior Graphic Designer being made redundant.

So now I start the somewhat daunting task of finding a new job. In the interim I will be looking for Freelance work, so if you have any requirements for work or a project that needs my skills please get in touch via the information supplied in the Contact section.

A White Christmas

Royal Pavilion in SnowIt gives me great pleasure that one of the Brighton in Snow shots that I took back in April 2008 is going to be used on this years NCsoft Christmas card.

Will is handling the execution, and so far it’s looking really good.

Here’s the shot he’s using of the Royal Pavilion:

Outstanding!

DiMA AwardI am now one of the proud recipients of a big shiny award from last nights Digital Media Awards: South!

The award is for “Outstanding Digital Design” and was awarded for the site Discover Lineage II of which I had a [more than] large part in producing (I did all the design work don’t you know).

Here are some photos of the whole event.

Dalek Love

Dalek Love Just got back from spending the weekend manning the NCsoft booth at Memorabilia with the rest of the NCsoft Events Crew.

As usual I was onhand to run the Photo Booth collecting money for the Everychild charity but when not snapping away or processing photos i got to hang out with my friends Kat Nicholson and Jason Cardy who were sketching like mad for Draw the World Together.

My favourite shot of the show has to be this one of the lovely Mia Navellou in her guise as a Guild Wars Ranger giving some much needed love to a poor lonely Dalek… Ahhhh!
